Opel Frontera fuels growth as German brand celebrates first quarter results.

The all-new Opel Frontera, launched in Ireland just ahead of the 261-registration plate, has fuelled strong passenger car growth for Opel Ireland of +31.9% in the first quarter of 2026. Indeed, the new Frontera compact SUV has struck a chord with customers across Ireland, evidenced by its 859 registrations, and placing the model in the top twenty best-selling models (No. 17) in Ireland this year. The strong Opel Frontera performance has thus culminated in a combined passenger car and light commercial vehicle share of 3.5% year to date, returning the German brand to the overall top ten sales chart in 2026.

Available in three trims and in five-seat or seven-seat guise, the capacious newcomer to the Opel stable boasts a striking, rugged design, packaged in a range of bright new colours and powered by efficient petrol hybrid and all-electric drivetrains. It retails from €24,606 inclusive of grants for the all-electric version, or from €27,995 for the efficient petrol hybrid powertrain, representing excellent value for family motorists.

James Brooks, Opel Ireland Managing Director, said: “The new Opel Frontera was always destined to become a firm Irish family favourite from launch, and it is indeed gratifying to see it enter the top twenty best-selling models this year from a standing start. Our new Frontera comes with a five-year warranty and offers families a stylish, efficient package and true value for money at a time when keeping motoring costs under control is so imperative.”

Proudly bearing the new Opel blitz emblem in the centre of the Opel Vizor front face, the modern look and feel continues in the interior where clever design meets comfort and family practicality. Featuring wide-opening rear doors to allow easy access for passengers and baby seats, up to 460 litres of luggage can be stored in the boot, and up to 1,594 litres with the seats folded down. Customers who need to take even more luggage can avail of optional roof rails. A 60/40 split rear bench seat and a second load floor ensure additional versatility for families.

Efficient in every way, the new Frontera is powered by a choice of two petrol hybrid versions (110PS and 145PS) and two all-electric versions; a 44kW 113PS 300km range version and a 54kW 113PS 400km range version.

With the launch of new Frontera in late 2025, together with the new Mokka SUV and new Grandland SUV, both launched in 2025, Opel boasts one of the freshest SUV line ups on the market.
