MG Unveils Two Concept Cars at Goodwood FoS 2026, One Will Go Into Production in 2027

MG used the opening day of the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed to pull the covers off two brand-new concept cars, giving the clearest look yet at where the British marque's design language is headed — one aimed squarely at the electric mainstream, the other a glimpse of a future flagship.

MG GO!: the production-bound one

The first concept, called the MG GO!, previews a new B-segment electric hatchback that MG says will join its range in 2027 - effectively an all-electric successor to the MG3 and a rival to cars like the Renault 5, Citroën ë-C3, Fiat Grande Panda and the incoming Volkswagen ID. Polo and Cupra Raval.

Developed at MG's London design studio under Design Director Carl Gotham, the GO! concept leans on what the brand calls a "retro-futuristic" design language, drawing on some of MG's most youthful models from the mid-20th century, including the MGB GT and the Metro 6R4. The result is a sporty, low-slung hatchback with MINI-esque headlights, large air intakes, an exposed tow hook, a wide track, lowered suspension and a prominent rear wing and diffuser - details MG itself admits are unlikely to survive in full onto the production car.

MG UK product and planning director David Allison indicated the production MG2, as the road car is expected to be badged, is due "towards the middle of next year," built on MG's electric-focused E3 architecture - the same platform underpinning the MG4 EV Urban. Expect a five-door layout, a starting price in the region of €20,000, and battery options mirroring the MG4 Urban's 41.9kWh and 52.8kWh packs, which would put range at up to roughly 280 miles.

MG Cyber Concept: the design vision

The second car, the MG Cyber Concept, is a far more aspirational statement — a bold, close-t-five-metre-long electric SUV concept that Kaban has described as a "dream car" for the brand. Positioned as an exterior styling exercise for now, with no interior or technical specifications yet released, the Cyber Concept is intended to do for MG's premium ambitions what the Cyberster roadster has done for its sporting image.

MG says the concept explores what a high-performance, D-segment electric SUV could look like for the brand, blending its sporting heritage with a muscular, purposeful stance. It's a longer-term project than the GO! - a production version isn't expected imminently, and MG hasn't confirmed it will reach Ireland, noting some future models may be sold only in other global markets, potentially under its sister brand IM.

Alongside the two newcomers, MG's Goodwood stand features a run of current and recent models, including the MGS9 PHEV (its first seven-seat SUV), the MG4 EV Urban, the MG IM5 saloon, the MG ZS Hybrid+, the MG HS PHEV, and the Cyberster. Three cars- the MGS9 PHEV, MGS6 EV and Cyberster, are also tackling the Goodwood hillclimb over the course of the event.

MG also brought a lineup of interactive robots to the stand as part of its "Future Motion Show," a demonstration of the brand's work on AI, sensor- and LiDAR-based driver assistance, and connectivity.

Taken together, the two concepts underline a shift in tone for MG: having built its recent European growth on value-for-money EVs and hybrids, the brand now appears to be chasing a more emotional, design-led identity - one that spans everything from an affordable, characterful city car to a genuine electric flagship.

MG is now present in 34 European markets through more than 1,300 dealer partners and passed 300,000 annual sales across Ireland and Europe in 2025.
